Episode 1 - January 2009
John and guest co-host Ed Demko of Bloodtypeonline.com discuss a couple of their favorite Fulci movies, Zombie and City of the Living Dead. What could be more appropriate for the kickoff episode of the Gutmunchers Podcast?
Episode 2 - February 2009
John and his regular cohost Jason discuss a couple of classic William Girdler films, Abby and Grizzly. If that weren’t enough they also have an interview with Abby herself, Carol Speed. Not a bad follow up for the second show.
Episode 3 - March 2009
Things are a bit mixed up and different this month. We have the Bill Rebane interview and Steve joins John in reviewing a couple of Rebane directorial efforts The Demons of Ludlow and The Giant Spider Invasion. If that weren’t enough the first installment of Sensei Cinema (with Steve again) and the first installment of the Mom and Pop video shop with Ed Demko are also featured.
Episode 4 - March 2009 (bonus show)
This time around we have something different for you guys. This is our first staff meeting show where a couple of the staff sit down and discuss a topic. We decided on Slasher movies as our first topic. So sit back and listen to John, Ed, and Steve defend their top 5 Slasher movies of all time.
Episode 5 - April 2009
John, Ed, Steve, and Scott discuss the fun that was the April 2009 Cinema Wasteland. Who did they meet and what treasures were found in the dealer’s room? Also John and Ed discuss some of the cool things that are coming from Gutmunchers in the near future.
Episode 6 - April 2009 (bonus show)
This is our first Exploitation show! John and Ed discuss a couple of classics that you could have seen on 42nd street back in the day, Zombie Holocaust (aka. Dr. Butcher M.D.) and Criminally Insane (aka. Crazy Fat Ethel). Not only that but Jason is back and helps John interview the legendary 42nd Street Pete.
Episode 7 - May 2009
Jason returns to the show as co-host as he and John get into Kill Bill volume 1 and 2. Also Ed Demko reopens the video shop for some movie talk and Steve stops by for another installment of Sensei Cinema. What could be better?
Episode 8 - June 2009
Another big show from Gutmunchers.com. First off we have an interview with director Chuck Sellier of Silent Night Deadly Night fame. Then John and Ed follow that up with a look at the entire Silent Night Deadly Night series. If that weren’t enough fun Jason and John review a couple of classics, Fright Night and Killer Klowns from Outer Space!
Episode 9 - June 2009 (bonus show)
So yeah I keep saying I have to stop doing bonus shows. But I just can’ t help myself. So episode 9 will be another bonus show with John and Ed talking about their favorite DVD company, Blue Underground. We go over our favorite titles from their catalogue and basically just “nerd” out .
Episode 10 - July 2009
This time around co-host Jason “the animal” Payne picks out a couple of horror movies to talk about. The Cronenberg Fly remake with Jeff Goldblum and the Wes Craven “presented” Dracula 2000. Also we have another Sensei Cinema segment with Steve!
Episode 11 - August 2009 (bonus show)
This show features an interview with director and co-founder of Severin films David Gregory. We talk to him about his movie Plague Town as well as his time with Blue Underground and Severin. Then John and Ed review 3 great titles from Severin films, Last House on the Beach, Bloody Moon, and The Inglorious Bastards. What more could you ask for?
Episode 12 - August 2009
This episode features an interview with independent director Jay Reel. Also John and Jason discuss the Grindhouse double feature Planet Terror and Death Proof. Toss in Steve with an another installment of Sensei CInema and you get 3 hours of podcast goodness! Oh and there is a HUGE announcement about an upcoming show to boot.
Episode 13 - August 2009
Director Uwe Boll stops by for an interview and talks about his career and sometimes contentious relationship with the fans. Also John and Ed are finally going to do the George Romero zombie show they have been talking about for a couple of years!
Episode 14 - September 2009
In this episode John is going to interview independent film legend J.R. Bookwalter. Then John and Jason discuss his first film the independent zombie epic The Dead Next Door. They follow that up with a review of the Blue Underground release Uncle Sam.
Episode 15 - September 2009
Roy Frumkes stops by for an interview. Since we have him on the show John and Ed are going to review Document of the Dead as well as Street Trash. If that weren’t enough we give our convention report from Horror Realm and Steve stops by for another installment of Sensei Cinema.
Episode 16 - October 2009
We have another great show for you guys. First up we have an interview with drive-in legend WIliam Grefe, director of Stanley, Sting of Death, Impulse, and Mako: Jaws of death to name a few. Then John and Jason review Toolbox Murders and the Crazies. If that weren’t enough John and Ed do the Cinema Wasteland wrap up and talk some Stanley (which was shown on 16 mm at the convention!).
Episode 17 - October 2009
Well first off we have another great interview lined up for you. James Best is going to stop by and talk some Rolling Thunder, Twilight Zone, Killer Shrews, and yes Dukes of Hazzard. Then John and Ed are going to review a couple of exploitation/drive-in classics, I Drink Your Blood and 2000 Maniacs. Also the newest staff member here at Gutmunchers, Matt Risnes, stops by to talk some Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Shaping up to be another good show.
Episode 18 - November 2009
This is going to be a more laid back show. John and Jason are going to review a couple of classic movies from the 1950s, The Killer Shrews (starring recent guest James Best) and the House on Haunted Hill (William Castle goodness). Also we announce our first ever contest with the show, so answer a trivia question and win a DVD.
Episode 19 - November 2009
Ed and I are going to review Blood Diner and Bloodsucking Freaks. Oh and since we are reviewing Bloodsucking Freaks how about we hit you guys with an interview with director Joel M. Reed? Yes that is right the director of Bloodsucking Freaks is on the show! You guys also have the next installment of Sensei Cinema to look forward to as well.
Episode 20 - December 2009
Director James Bryan of Executioner Part II fame is interviewed for episode 20. Also John and Jason switch things up and review a couple of PG rated classics, The Goonies and Monster Squad. Matt stops by and talks about the genre offerings in the decade that was the 2000s. Oh and we have a huge interview announcement for the next show.
Episode 21 - December 2009
This is our Christmas spectacular show! First up we have an interview with the legendary H.G. Lewis! Then John and Ed review a couple of Christmas gems, Black Christmas and the Gremlins. You might even hear from some of the other members of the Grue crew about their favorite holiday memories.
