Mimic (1997)

When a horrible disease spread by cockroaches threatened to kill off an entire generation of children on Manhattan Island, Dr. Susan Tyler is called upon by her husband, Dr. Peter Mann who just happens to be with the CDC, to come up with a solution.  She creates a breed of genetically engineered insects called the Judas breed to wipe out all the cockroaches in New York City.  They were engineered so that they would be sterile and only last one generation.  Somehow they survived, bred and mutated.  Now they are much larger and have a new prey, human beings.  When some kids bring Susan a Judas Breed baby, she figures out there is a big problem.  Now she has to track down the hive of the Judas Breed deep in the sewers and try to figure out a way to stop them before they can wipe out their new prey as effectively as they did their old prey.

This movie has a pretty cool premise and is well written.  The acting is good and there are several interesting characters that you get to meet throughout the story.  The special effects are all good though there is nothing that stands out too much, but they look good and the giant bugs are pretty damn cool.  It's got some good action scenes and never gets too slow.

This is a good movie.  It is well made and has enough action and suspense to keep you entertained throughout the film.  It's nothing all that special, but it's not hard to follow and is just a fun flick to watch.
