Dracula 2000 (2000)

Set in the year 2000 this movie picks up where Bram Stokers Dracula left off, with a few minor changes.  Van Helsing, who could not find the means to actually destroy him, captured Dracula. The dedicated hunter then kept himself alive by injecting himself with Dracula's blood until such a time as he could finally figure out how to end the bloodsuckers life once and for all.  As the years passed Van Helsing became a very successful antique dealer and constructed a very secure high tech vault to hide Dracula's body away in.  Unfortunately the high tech vault attracts high tech thieves who break in to take whatever is worth so much protection.  Even more unfortunately for them, they succeed, taking the coffin Dracula is in and unwittingly awakening the ancient vampire.  They are quickly eaten and made into Dracula's vampiric minions.  Eventually it is up to Simon Sheppard, Van Helsing's assistant, and Mary Heller, Van Helsing's daughter, to fight the undead terror and make the world a safer place once more.

This is another movie that is surprisingly good.  The writing isn't that bad and it's fun to see the modern twist they put on the original story, working many aspects of it into the modern day tale.  You even get to see the three sexy vampiric wives in it.  The acting isn't half bad.  The special effects are good but nothing spectacular and there are some nifty props used throughout the movie.  There are also original plot twists and turns that you might not have expected.

It's worth watching, especially if you are a vampire flick fan.  It's not the best vampire movie out there, but it's fun and fairly original.  You won't be amazed, but hopefully you'll be well entertained.
