Cockhammer (2009)
This is the latest low budget effort from director/actor Kevin Strange and Hack movies. I suppose you could call it a sequel to his previous flick Stiff Jobs as the end of that movie sets up this one. This movie opens with the evil wizard and pornographer Cockhammer trying to transport himself to a level of hell so that he may rule there. The ritual involves killing and consuming a hooker! But it fails again and to make matters worse when he dispatches our two favorite hit men Wolfram and Wingate to fetch more whores they discover they have used them all up. So they end up grabbing a couple of girls off the street, who have boyfriends at home waiting for them. Before you know it the boyfriends as well as Strangeville’s favorite stoners Hogan and Nixon show up at Cockhammer’s hideout to spoil things.
Cockhammer is another over the top and crazy flick from Hack Movies. Some movies like to step across that line called good taste, but this movie flies past it doing about 80. Really I almost can guarantee that Cockhammer has something to offend everyone and I loved it. Sure some of the stuff had me cringing a bit, but then I was also laughing my ass off at other things. The story isn’t anything special and follows a very predictable path, but at the same time packs as much rude and crude humor in as possible during the runtime. Most low budget horror comedies fail at the comedy part of the equation, but this one and most of the other Hack movies deliver the goods.
The performances of the cast are actually quite decent considering this is a low budget movie. Kevin Strange tends to use a lot of the same people again and again in his movies and this had paid off by them having some decent acting skills by now. Not only that but there is a chemistry between the cast that helps with the comedy. Hell whenever I can sit thru a feature length independent movie without a single rough bit of acting I’m impressed. The special effects in the movie are very rudimentary and actually aren’t as good as I’ve seen in some of the other Hack Movies like Colonel Kill Motherfuckers, but they are that bad either. The camera work and lighting are again pretty good for a low budget movie and I have no complaints.
Bottom line guys is that if you are looking for a low budget horror/comedy and don’t mind some over the top and offensive humor then Cockhammer is for you. I’ve always had some fun with movies like this and I have to say that no one out there is taking it quite as far as the crew down at Hack Movies. But lets be honest if you want to see a movie called Cockhammer and are offended by the title then who the hell are you kidding? Seriously the damn thing is called Cockhammer! So with that I recommend this one. For more information check out http://www.hackmovies.com/press.html
